Sorry if I sounded rude, then. I'm not familiar with the Iwill line 
of motherboards, so I'm not sure what sort of onboard sound hardware 
it has. This being the case, I took the liberty of forwarding your 
reply to the list, since you didn't CC the list.

You might want to try disabling the KDE sound server (artsd) and 
rebooting, as it tends to hog the soundcard. If that doesn't work, 
then I'm not sure what else to suggest.
