What is the precise meaning of it ? The 'sticky' bit was, historically, intended to keep an executable's swap image around after the last process using it exited. This behavior was an optimization in a time when reading a swap image was noticeably faster than performing an 'exec'. For its current meaning, try 'man sticky'.
