I looked into sockstat and found that ports 1020 and 1021 were used by nfs. Now I know how to have both sendmail and lpd working without listening to external calls. Thanks! Regarding the following: arp: unknown hardware address format (0x0800) I'm not using cablemodem. I will pass this to the sys/net admin. I also know that I must do something to protect my machine. I will investigate setting up a firewall (I have a 1-nic machine).
