FreeBSD 3.2R and pnp cards. In www.freebsd.org/faq/faq78.html, I see that pnp devices need "pnp x ..." entries in /boot/kernel.conf among other settings. However, /boot/kernel.conf contains the undocumented commands such as di(disable?) and q(quit?), then at the bootup the system ignores these commands and pauses right after it igonored "q" command in /boot/kernel.conf file. At this point, pressing Enter causes the process to resume. I decided to include ppp stuff into that file any way. If I put ppp statements, which was followed by unknown commands in /boot/kernel.conf, the system does not understand these directives at bootup. It is as if the kernel does not care the pnp statements in /boot/kernel.conf as long as there are vendor-id entries in sio.c because the presence of ppp statements in /boot/kernel.conf does not have no meaning in this case. The following system message always appear regardless of the presence of pnp directives in /boot/kernel.conf. sb0 at 0x220 irq 5 drq 1 on isa snd0: sbxvi0 at drq 5 on isa snd0: sbmidi0 at 0x330 on isa snd0: opl0 at 0x388 on isa snd0: I would like to figure out the correct procedure to set up this sb16 pnp card.
