If you're running fsck very often, something is seriously wrong with your system, and you should fix that before doing anything else. If the primary reason for wanting lfs - or some other journaling file system - is reducing the fsck time, 5.0-RELEASE will add snapshots to the soft update facility that's in 4.X. These two features provide the reliability and short recovery time of jfs, with better performance.
