I already have a 1GByte SCSI disk with 200MB for DOS + rest for FreeBSD. This is running from the Adaptec 1742 SCSI controller. Now I want to add a WD Caviar 2340 IDE disk. I am using the standard multi-io board to access this drive. FreeBSD sees the disk as wd0, but I'm having problems labeling it. I've made a disktab entry for it and tried labeling it, newfs'd it and successfully mounted it and copied files to/from it, but on rebooting, it complains about no label. Should I configure this drive as wd1 ?? Is wd0 _special_ in that it expects to boot from it ???? Any hints much appreciated. Alan
