Are you using Greg Lehey's DNS configuration for a standalone host? What error messages do you get when you HUP named? Can you telnet? nslookup? I made two obvious mistakes when I was trying to configure my DNS; I kept forgetting to put the final dots after the final domain names in the files where this is necessary, and I tried to use a local domain name with an underscore.
