I was messing around with Net.Medic's vitalsigns the other day, and it
told me that my DNS server was having problems responding.
It's a P120, 64MB RAM, BIND 4.9.5-p1 (recently upgraded to 4.9.6),
under a version of FreeBSD 2.2-current from Aug of 96.
The machine has been running for about 4 months, does this output look
abnormal?
udp:
126913455 datagrams received
6 with bad data length field
498 with bad checksum
428654 dropped due to no socket
10764636 broadcast/multicast datagrams dropped due to no socket
143 dropped due to full socket buffers
115150923 not for hashed pcb
115719518 delivered
118314487 datagrams output
The no socket/no hashed pcb ones have me concerned, the full socket
buffers not so much, although perhaps a kernel parameter could be tweaked?
I haven't noticed any problem myself with the nameserver, but perhaps my
machines are running off the backups or somesuch.
