As to the "desktop", well, you can choose from: Gnome, KDE, ...: /stand/sysinstall --> Configure ... It goes without saying that you must have installed XFree86 (have I=20 mentioned /stand/sysinstall ?), and that you have to write down few=20 simple configuration files (e.g. ~/.xinitrc, containing, say, "exec=20 startkde"). Personally, I adopted a different approach: I downloaded X, KDE,=20 GNOME, a number of window managers, etc. (wasting a considerable=20 amount of bandwidth) via the ports(7) mechanism.
