You should send your questions to the list rather than me personally. Chances are good someone else out there can answer better than I can. In this case that would be true. Maybe you just accidently missed using the group reply (reply all). > I'm trying to install and configurate "KDE" > I was using this commands: > #cd /usr/ports/x11/kde3(it worked) > #make install clean(this comand did not work) > > it gave me and error :Long file. Well, you have to go in to the Makefiles and find out where is was trying to get that chunk and then go their your self with ftp or find another site for it. Actually, I usually just try again later and find that it then does everything OK - there was just something temporarily down when I was trying before. But, in some cases you really do have to go and do something special. Also, post to the list, because someone else out there probably has already solved that same problem. I haven't had any trouble with KDE. ////jerry > > So I need yours help. > Thanks, > Leon. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Jerry McAllister" > To: "Leon" > Cc: > Sent: Wednesday, December 08, 2004 12:43 PM > Subject: Re: configuration of "XFree86" > > > >> > >> Hi, > >> I'm first time installing FreeBSD. > >> I'm trying to configure X server. > >> > >> > >> And I have a problem with configuring of X server. > >> > >> I use the instructions for installation and configuration. > >> Which says: "use /stand/sysinstall" > >> Take "Configure" > >> Then pick "XFree86" > >> > >> The problem is that I can't find "XFree86"; it's not there. > >> So, how can I configure X server? > >> > >> Can you send me a link,or instruction how can I do it? > > > > I am presuming you are installing FreBSD 5.xxx. > > You need to read the handbook, the release notes and some of > > the many postings on this list dealing with this subject. > > > > XFree86 has been replaced by Xorg in version 5.xxx and beyond. > > > >> > >> And the second question is the funny one. > >> > >> How can I see help on the FreeBSD? > >> I have tried "MAIN" but it did not work. > >> What command should I use? > > > > Try 'man man' > > > > ////jerry > > > >> Thank you. > >> Leon. > >> _______________________________________________ > >
