During the past months I've noticed i'm doing less with win98 and more and more with FreeBSD (replaced quicken with gnucash and much more). The only reason I have win98 is because I never managed to get my internal modem to work under FreeBSD and sometimes when travelling I wanted to dial-in to the internet. The primary (win98) partition is 1.6GB The secondary (Freebsd 4.10) partition is 6.2GB Now, I would like to upgrade on the following way. First, I would like to install FreeBSD 5.3. Release on the primary partition and remove windows 98 completely. I would then dual boot 5.3 and 4.10. Then, I would like to mount the secondary partition (4.10) from 5.3 and move all my personal data to the 5.3 partition. After that, I would like to format the secondary partition (4.10) and give that free space to 5.3. (someone told me you could do that on the fly in 5.3). I would like to end up with Freebsd 5.3 beiing the only OS on my laptop. I have the following questions. 1) Will this update strategy work? 2) Is the 1.6GB partition big enough for a basic FreeBSD 5.3 install?
