So it loads? Does that mean that FreeBSD *is* installed and booting up
normally? When I mean normally, I mean it boots and loads the kernel and
you eventually end up with a login: prompt.

When you see the login prompt, you just login as root using the password
you supplied when you installed the system (i.e. when you were asked to
supply a root password). After you login, you should get a command prompt
where you enter commands such as ls, ps, w, who, and more.

As far as your X configuration and you video card goes, that depends on
your video chipset and the configuration of the /etc/XF86Config file which
can be done with the XF86Setup program. If your video card isn't listed,
then go by what chipset it uses (i.e. Rage, Rage IIc, Rage Pro for ATI
video cards).

As far as the extra IDE card issue, I'm not really sure what you mean. If
you can login into the system as root type dmesg > dmesg.txt and send us
that file so we can see if it was supported or not.

Anyways, I'm not a computer programmer (I can't program myself out of a
paper bag) and I love FreeBSD. It's a very stable and fun system to use
once you learn how to use it. Sure, you'll just have to live witih not
having some of the luxuries you might find on Windows (or maybe even
Linux), but the stability and power make up for it.

Let us know exactly what's going on and hopefully we can help.

Joey
