Well, but very certainly not on an AHA2940. ;-)  This one hasn't been
supported in 1.0 at all...

Any chance to convince your BIOS of assigning a different IRQ?  IRQ 12
is the typical IRQ line for a PS/2 mouse, so in case your board has a
PS/2 mouse connector, they might conflict.  (Just a guess.)  Try to
pre-allocate it in the BIOS setup screen as being used by ``legacy
ISA''.

(Please, don't quote hundreds of lines.)
