Hi, I bought a USB 2.0 external hard drive and USB 2.0 PCI card to use for backups on my FreeBSD box but the drive is recognised as only being able to do 1.000MB/s transfers. Obviously a USB 2.0 drive should be able to transfer data a lot faster... I have checked my config and can't see any issues. Can someone point me in the right direction or see an issue with my config? I have included a "dmesg" and "kernel config" below. Thank you in advance for your help. Cheers. -Chris ------------- pciconf -l -v ------------- hostb0@pci0:0:0: class=3D0x060000 card=3D0x00000000 = chip=3D0x11308086 rev=3D0x02 hdr=3D0x00 vendor =3D 'Intel Corporation' device =3D '82815/EM/EP/P 815/EM/EP/P (Solano) Host to I/O Hub Bridge' class =3D bridge subclass =3D HOST-PCI agp0@pci0:2:0: class=3D0x030000 card=3D0x001a0e11 chip=3D0x11328086 = rev=3D0x02 hdr=3D0x00 vendor =3D 'Intel Corporation' device =3D '82815/EM/EP/P 815/EM/EP/P (Solano) Interal GUI Accelerator' class =3D display subclass =3D VGA pcib1@pci0:30:0: class=3D0x060400 card=3D0x00000000 = chip=3D0x244e8086 rev=3D0x01 hdr=3D0x01 vendor =3D 'Intel Corporation' device =3D '82801BA/CA/DB/DBL/EB/ER/FB (ICH2/3/4/4/5/5/6), 6300ESB Hub Interface to PCI Bridge' class =3D bridge subclass =3D PCI-PCI isab0@pci0:31:0: class=3D0x060100 card=3D0x00000000 = chip=3D0x24408086 rev=3D0x01 hdr=3D0x00 vendor =3D 'Intel Corporation' device =3D '82801BA (ICH2) LPC Interface Controller' class =3D bridge subclass =3D PCI-ISA atapci0@pci0:31:1: class=3D0x010180 card=3D0x24118086 = chip=3D0x244b8086 rev=3D0x01 hdr=3D0x00 vendor =3D 'Intel Corporation' device =3D '82801BA (ICH2) UltraATA/100 IDE Controller' class =3D mass storage subclass =3D ATA uhci2@pci0:31:4: class=3D0x0c0300 card=3D0x24118086 = chip=3D0x24448086 rev=3D0x01 hdr=3D0x00 vendor =3D 'Intel Corporation' device =3D '82801BA/BAM (ICH2/ICH2-M) USB Universal Host = Controller' class =3D serial bus subclass =3D USB none0@pci0:31:5: class=3D0x040100 card=3D0x000f0e11 = chip=3D0x24458086 rev=3D0x01 hdr=3D0x00 vendor =3D 'Intel Corporation' device =3D '82801BA/BAM (ICH2/ICH2-M) AC'97 Audio Controller' class =3D multimedia subclass =3D audio uhci0@pci2:4:0: class=3D0x0c0300 card=3D0x30381106 chip=3D0x30381106 = rev=3D0x61 hdr=3D0x00 vendor =3D 'VIA Technologies Inc' device =3D 'VT82xxxxx UHCI USB 1.1 Controller (All VIA Chipsets)' class =3D serial bus subclass =3D USB uhci1@pci2:4:1: class=3D0x0c0300 card=3D0x30381106 chip=3D0x30381106 = rev=3D0x61 hdr=3D0x00 vendor =3D 'VIA Technologies Inc' device =3D 'VT82xxxxx UHCI USB 1.1 Controller (All VIA Chipsets)' class =3D serial bus subclass =3D USB ehci0@pci2:4:2: class=3D0x0c0320 card=3D0x31041106 chip=3D0x31041106 = rev=3D0x63 hdr=3D0x00 vendor =3D 'VIA Technologies Inc' device =3D 'VT6202 USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller' class =3D serial bus subclass =3D USB fxp0@pci2:8:0: class=3D0x020000 card=3D0x00120e11 chip=3D0x24498086 = rev=3D0x01 hdr=3D0x00 vendor =3D 'Intel Corporation' device =3D '82559ER 82559ER Integrated 10Base-T/100Base-TX = Ethernet Controller' class =3D network subclass =3D ethernet wi0@pci2:10:0: class=3D0x028000 card=3D0x41051385 chip=3D0x38731260 = rev=3D0x01 hdr=3D0x00 vendor =3D 'Intersil Americas Inc (Was: Harris Semiconductor)' device =3D 'PRISM 2.5 802.11b 11Mbps Wireless Controller' class =3D network ------------- usbdevs -d ------------- addr 1: UHCI root hub, VIA uhub0 addr 2: USB TO IDE, vendor 0x05e3 umass0 addr 1: UHCI root hub, VIA uhub1 addr 1: EHCI root hub, VIA uhub2 addr 1: UHCI root hub, Intel uhub3 addr 2: EZ USB/Ethernet Converter, SMC, Inc aue0 ------------- dmesg ------------- Copyright (c) 1992-2005 The FreeBSD Project.
