I've been using it for years for that reason. Unfortunately, it's been getting more and more expensive in that configuration. Once it came free with BSD/386. Then it cost $10 more for multi-head. Then it cost 2*$40 "special offer", including $40 for software I already had, and which I didn't get refunded. Now I discover that it would cost me $375 to upgrade to the newest version. XiG isn't perfect. I've decided the price is too high for the difference from XFree86, like I decided some time ago that BSD/OS was too expensive for the difference from FreeBSD. A propos configuration: yes, it's a sort of menu-driven thing. The real problem with configuring X isn't running the configuration system, which is acceptable (but not much more) on either product. The real problem is knowing the answers to the questions either installation process asks you. See "The Complete FreeBSD", second edition (http://www.cdrom.com/titles/os/bsdbook2.htm) for more details: it's a bitch.
