I wonder, is the "heart" of this issue that people somehow want to use the *name* "/usr/local" as a site or machine specific place, and it's been comandeered by the masses already? Is it too weird to suggest we make up, say, /usr/site for truely site-local stuff? Feh. Not enough coffee yet, jdl
