To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org (Free BSD Multimedia List) Date: Fri, 23 Nov 2001 11:16:41 -0500 (EST) From: "Stan Brown" X-Mailer: ELM [version 2.5 PL6] MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.org I would like to build a TVIO like Personal Video Recorder based upon a FreeBSD box. Questions. !. Is this possible? 2. If so what hardware (other than the basic computer) do I need? WinTV card? Special video card for TV out? 3. What kernel options do I need? 4. What userland software do I need? I have in mind something like an Athalon 12.G machine with a fair amount (40->120G) of disk space, (preferably IDE).
