If I delete gnome-session's patch-gnome-session_gsm-dbus.c, this problem - dbus_daemon_pid != 0 - does not happen. So, I am not sure what you are suggesting.... I know that my environment is too adventureous, -current, gcc42, xorg 7.2 (/usr/X11R6 -> /usr/local), etc., and may not be so appropriate to ask for any help.
