In your /etc/ppp/ppp.conf file, insert one of the following to control the speaker volume: L0 (low volume) L1 (low volume) L2 (medium volume) L3 (high volume) M0 (to turn off the speaker entirely) For example, to get low volume, you might have: "ATL1DT202-555-1212" Try different numeric values, beginning with 0 or 1. Different modems have very different ideas about what"low volume" means!
