Excuse this question which must be in a FAQ somewhere 
but I have read the sendmail faq, checked dejanews
and freebsd archives and found nothing but other people
asking the same question and no answers :

what are the -ERR POP EOF messages on the console when people
connect to the server ?

people seem able to connect and collect ok but i just dislike
error messages.
