Essentially, the original plan was to port to the UltraSparc Only and not to use the NetBSD/OpenBSD code as a base. There was even a lose plan of action contained in the FAQ. Given the project is dead and I don't want to make any claims as to bringing it alive either, all I can say is I am looking into it from the point of view of merging the NetBSD/OpenBSD sparc support into the FreeBSD kernel.
