FreeBSD 2.2.8 will run with this SCSI adapter card. I myself have a test 386/33 EISA box set up with one of these. I was interested in loading a newer version but it turns out that the person who was interested in updating the drivers never really got started. Unless someone else has decided to work on them you should assume that drivers for this card do not exist and will not for the forseeable future. However, the fortunate thing is that used Adaptec 1540 SCSI cards range in price from $10-20 on Ebay.
