I'm not opposed to rtfm'ing, just don't know where to turn. I just got a Sony DSC-W1 digital camera and am not having much success with it so far with the latest & greatest 5.3 stable kernel. Some things I've seen say that it should be visible as da0 post-boot. This is something of a problem because I boot FreeBSD from an ION USB 2.0 hard drive and that gets mounted as da0. /dev/da0s1a on / (ufs, local) devfs on /dev (devfs, local) /dev/da0s1e on /tmp (ufs, local, soft-updates) /dev/da0s1f on /usr (ufs, local, soft-updates) /dev/da0s1d on /var (ufs, local, soft-updates) If I try to boot with the camera powered on, my system hangs. If I boot with the camera powered off, then power it on post boot, it gets recognized at the console: Console log for ion umass0: Sony Sony DSC, rev 2.00/5.00, addr 3 gphoto2 doesn't have much to say: bash-2.05b$ gphoto2 --auto-detect Model Port ---------------------------------------------------------- I am going to try booting from one of the install disks (i.e. from the cdrom & not the USB hard drive) and see what the boot kernel has to say about this camera.
