I managed to get my first freeBSD install up and running with little
problem. However, every time I recompile the kernel, even with no changes, I
get 

ad0: READ command timeout tag=0 serv=0 - resetting
ata0: resetting devices .. done

There are no errors in dmesg.boot and the machine reboots fine with the
existing Kernel, so how do I go about finding the problem?

setup:

FreeBSD 4.4-STABLE

Cyrix 6x86MX PR200
MAXTOR 81750 1.7Gb IDE HDD
