Hi Poly/Ekalavya, Perhaps I should add that while X needs kern.vty set to vt, setting the variable to sc disables X but enables text-mode screensavers. I have a pure text-mode FreeBSD installation on one of my disks and I quite enjoy the Logo saver therein. Regards, Manish Jain
