I'm in total agreement here.  The approach taken will make adding tclX
(which is what this should have been) a serious pain in the ass, and it's
totally contrary to the recent discussions about reusing the port frame
for large third-party base system components.  (ie. gcc and friends)

What happened to the consultation process?  Why was the recent public
discussion on this issue totally ignored?
