Awright, I'm installing 5-STABLE now to see what gives. Discovered 
another interesting thing, diskinfo -tv gave me much better figures 
under 5.4 than 6-STABLE, don't know how reliable those figures are but 
it's worrying anyway. Will come back when I have enough info on running 5.
