I had just tested with the -9 option a= nd it worked, so then I went back without the -9 option and it still worked. I then went back and tried with everything I could think of that might have caused the original panic but I couldn't get the system to panic again, sti= ll without the -9 option. You also asked if Xorg was involved, and it probably wasn't. I did everyth= ing from the command line, but it was inside of xfce4-terminal. So Xorg is run= ning but I don't think that it should be involved in command line work from a terminal.
