FreeBSD actually runs on 2 platforms, i386 and Alpha. Work is on progress to support ppc and Sparc (No release date scheduled). If you want some exotic hardware, check www.NetBSD.org, when all computer platforms will run NetBSD (soon i think ;), they'll try to support microwave ovens or even fridges :-).
