I face the exact same problem. I think SSL is required if you want to
talk to icinga installation on other hosts?
I personally require SSL from ports as the base SSL cannot do alpn.

But as the old 2.4.10 version worked fine with SSL port from ports,
there must be a change upstream that breaks compatibility with OpenSSL
1.0.2h?
