Hello, I've installed FreeBSD 5.3 on an external ultra scsi drive. To boot I use a devalias: boot freebsd where freebsd = /pci@1f,0/pci@1/scsi@1,1/disk@3,0:a ok probe-scsi-all /pci@1f,0/pci@1/scsi@1,1 /pci@1f,0/pci@1/scsi@1 Target 3 Unit 0 Disk SEAGATE STXXXXXSUN18G 034 A perhaps the good devalias is freebsd = /pci@1f,0/pci@1/scsi@1/disk@3,0:a My / partition is "a" I can't test no more because i'm installing gentoo sparc on my ultra5. If someone could tell me what devalias i should use I will reinstall freebsd and will try to boot it Regards, Yann >From: Joerg Wunsch <j@ida.interface-business.de> >Reply-To: Joerg Wunsch <joerg_wunsch@interface-systems.de> >To: Yann CUEFF <yanncueff@hotmail.fr> >CC: freebsd-sparc64@freebsd.org >Subject: Re: How to boot after a Freebsd 5.3 install >Date: Tue, 28 Dec 2004 18:44:08 +0100 > >As Yann CUEFF wrote: > > > Nowhere like an install on i386 i've seen an item to install a boot > > manager. > >The Openboot PROM (OBP) is boot manager enough. > > > After exist sysinstall i tried to boot with the OBP of my ultra5 > > workstation on the a partition and i doesn't work. > >Where did you install it?
