hi folks. I've been struggling to get FreeBSD installed on my Compaq Presario 5330US for the past two weeks. I've tried just about everything, and I still get the following as soon as I attempt to boot: ------------------------------------------------------------------- int=0000000d err=00000000 efl=00030202 eip=0000c9c7 eax=00004020 ebx=00000000 ecx=00000200 edx=0000d6af esi=00000804 edi=00014000 ebp=0000150c esp=000014da cs=f000 ds=ed03 es=ed03 fs=0000 gs=0000 ss=0000 cs:eip= 0f 20 dd 81 e5 00 f0 0f - 20 c2 0f 01 e0 a8 01 75 ss:esp= 00 40 01 00 d4 00 00 00 - 0c 15 00 00 fa 14 00 00 BTX halted ------------------------------------------------------------------- The install works fine (I've tried 4.6 and just downloaded and tried 4.6.2 tonight .. same thing), and System Commander sees the BSD installation on my second drive (I've also tried BSD's boot manager to no avail). I have an 80 GB IDE drive (master) that has Windows XP on it, and I'm installing FreeBSD on the slave IDE drive, which is a 40 GB Western Digital. During installation, I tell FreeBSD to use the entire second drive, and set up the slices by using "Automatic" mode. Anyone have any ideas or thoughts on places for me to look for answers to this question? I've searched google for days on "BTX halted", and have seen a lot of messages where people have been having the same problem; unfortunately what I haven't found yet is a solution to the problem. thanks!
