What are the exact "road blocks" that you mentioned earlier? Here’s what I got: # mtools-3.9.8.tar.gz doesn’t seem to exist in /usr/ports/distfiles This could probably just be an internet configuration error, but seeing how your were able to ftp onto a site successfully, this probably isn't the case. I didn’t ftp from FreeBSD, I had to go back to windows to ftp, then I went back to FreeBSD, and copied mtools-3.9.8.tar.gz form my dos partition to /usr/ports/distfiles and ran make again. This time it got past mtools-3.9.8.tar.gz, but got this message: #mtools-3.9.8-20011127.diff.gz doesn’t seem to exist in /usr/ports/distfiles So I went back to windows, and downloaded this file, and then went back to FreeBSD and continued the installation only to get another message similar to this on. I understand that in order for this port to run, others have to be installed, but this back and forth thing between widows and FreeBSD, is a little cumbersome, and I just thought that when I installed the ports collection they would have everything on them I needed to compile a program Run "make install && make clean" while in the proper directory and connected to the internet, or having a CD-ROM that has all of the port's tarballs mounted. Does the 4.5 install disk have the tarballs on them? I wasn’t able to find them, and this is what led me to the ealier part of this email and my original email. Hopedully I didn't confuse the matter too much. Best wishes, and thanx, Desmond To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-newbies" in the body of the message
