The compiled xanim is looking for the vid libs/dlls in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xanim/mods, which is not where the port installs the .xa files to. xanim's patch file (patch-ab) needs to be modified to say: +XA_DLL_PATH = $(LIBDIR)/xanim instead of: +XA_DLL_PATH = $(LIBDIR)/xanim/mods I hope this helps.
