Are ATAPI/IDE drives supported? 

Yes. You just have to enable SCSI-hostadapter emulation in the
Linux-kernel
and your IDE-drives will appear as if they were SCSI-devices. Please
read the
file README.atapi distributed with cdrecord.

Can this be done in FreeBSD 3.2 ?
