Sorry for the misunderstanding.  I don't know where I got the idea
that you're using PPP.

I don't know what the problem might be off the top of my head, but it
might be helpful if you could provide the line from /etc/ttys for the
dialin line.  If you have made any changes to /etc/gettytab or
/etc/rc.serial, it would be helpful to see those, too.
