	Here is what I use.

For the shell, tcsh.
For the editor, emacs, at the console and in X, along with vi
For mail, mutt, and I used to use Elm but mutt has more features.

	Try some of these programs out.  Look in the ports in editors,mail,and
shells and just play around.
