How do I get the translation on? This card has no jumper at W6 (or >whichever it is), just bare traces. HP special. > First I think you have to enable the controller BIOS (jumper on W3). There should NO jumper installed on W1/5-6 (if it exists) cause a installed jumper means use physical disk values!! Then jump into the controller BIOS (debug: g=CC00:5 if you BIOS is located at CC000) and go on to menue point 7 "Change Drive Type and Exit". Choose with "+" and "-" the 63 SPT translation and exit. Your mainboard BIOS should use for this disk the disk type 1 the WD1007 controller do the rest! A note: Never switch alternalte sector on (W1/11-12 should be open if alternate sector is disabled). >> |> I bet the calculation for the location of the bad144 spare sectors is dead >> |> wrong. > >It *looks* right. How can I tell if it's wrong? It really works without problems if you make no mistake before, e.g. make a partition with more blocks than the disk supports! Hope this helps!
