It looks like this is the same issue as PR amd64/95554, except it also exists on i386. I just tried 6.0-RELEASE [i386] and both drives are detected correctly (in the install at least). Sorry about that. It's been a hectic week with the drive dying due to a power surge/problem (even behind a surge protector) and trying to recover data and get replacements here quick.
