Hiya,

I noticed (after sending my other message) the following message on
the console when one of the users (or root) tries to start PPP :

Jan 16 10:06:49 hornet pppd[12920]: ioctl(TIOCSCTTY): Operation not
permitted
Is this more help with diagnosis ?
