I am using a freebsd box with the above setup at work.  sometimes when 
acid (php script) is performing a mysql query it just freezes up for 5-10 
seconds seemingly for no reason.  i had the exact same applications 
running on the exact same hardware and the exact same network connection 
a couple months ago, except it was running on top of linux instead.  it was 
generally slower, but didn't exhibit these freeze ups.  anyone know what 
the cause/solution might be?  it doesn't seem to be under a terribly heavy 
load.  maybe something isn't optimized with sysctl? i'm reaching here... :)
