I am using a freebsd box with the above setup at work. sometimes when acid (php script) is performing a mysql query it just freezes up for 5-10 seconds seemingly for no reason. i had the exact same applications running on the exact same hardware and the exact same network connection a couple months ago, except it was running on top of linux instead. it was generally slower, but didn't exhibit these freeze ups. anyone know what the cause/solution might be? it doesn't seem to be under a terribly heavy load. maybe something isn't optimized with sysctl? i'm reaching here... :) --
