How is your drive partitioned?
You aren't trying to share filesystems between 2.1.5 and 3.4, are you?

What do you mean by no success with ppp?  What was the problem?

Somehow I don't think that I have a clear understanding of what you
have done.  Send more info on your hardware, and how you have the
drive partitioned.
