The Xsession(5) man says that it initializes X session and is started by either startx or DM. And SDDM does exactly that - it first sources /usr/local/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/90-consolekit, then Xsession itself and = uses $STARTUP variable to run desktop environment. Am I wrong about all that? Re-reading whole thread, I got an idea that this might be related to kern.v= ty. IIRC, "sc" is the old thing, maybe it doesn't propagate tty change events w= hen you switch back to X.
