I have been using user level ppp for sometime and enjoying the timeout and auto dial features but a few reasons have come up that I must use kernel ppp in some situations. Does kernel ppp have a way that it would disconnect the connection after a certain timeout period or/and way to auto dial a connection? The timeouts are most interesting for a server that allows users to connection via ppp. The users using Microsoft stuff need to use kernel ppp for a reliable connection but some of the sponges never hang up. With userlevel ppp they can be forced off after a while of inactivity. I did this with the netbsd version which I assume is very simular but the same does not appear to work for FreeBSD. This question is either concerning 2.2 or -current. Thanks. ---------- Kent Vander Velden graphix@iastate.edu
