OK that was pretty informative. I added the auth.* line to my syslog.conf in the recommended spot and am now capturing the appropriate messages to my log however they look like so Jun 27 21:44:22 pilikia inetd[49237]: twist taz to /bin/echo "You are not welcom e to use ___ from taz." Jun 27 22:12:07 pilikia inetd[49377]: twist taz to /bin/echo "You are not welcom e to use ___ from taz." the service field appears is all underlines, the %d variable is not expanding properly in the ALL: ALL rule at the bottom of hosts allow. I haven't tweaked that part of the file at all, it is vanilla 3.2. Why is this?
