Mine gives a slightly different dmesg output: (ncr0:6:0): "EXABYTE EXB-8200 253G" type 1 removable SCSI 1 So, its a slightly different model, maybe with an older firmware (are firmware upgrades possible on these drives?) However, since it is a similar model, I was wondering what you do to use a tape. The tape I'm trying to use is an Exabyte 112m tape, and as I said before, I tried a 'mt erase' before using the tape.
