Wow, what a flame. I'm no unix geek, i just migrated from linux because i also wanted the stability, but frankly, if you don't want to roll up your sleeves and get down-and-dirty with OS stuff, maybe you should consider Caldera or Mandrake Linux. I don't say that as a put-down or anything, it just seems that maybe a ready-to-use distro would suit your needs better. Linux offers a great deal of stability right now, and if you really don't see what freebsd has to offer maybe it's because you don't need it. Frankly, if i had had any serious problems whatsoever, i was going to run screaming back to mandrake 6.1. But i was lucky. I still have no zip support, no sound, and no good wordprocessor, but i'm also a CIS student and i like fooling around with this OS. If you DON'T like fooling around with an OS, go back to Linux. If it comes down to an installation procedure souring your taste on alternative-to-MS OS's, then the choice is clear to me: go with what works for you. I started on Linux THEN moved. That's usually the recommended route. -jm To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
