Yeah, I know that was true when I started using it a few years back.
I haven't looked since to see if multi-tape-per-partition dumps are
available now.  My disks aren't that big (9GB) and I conservatively
partition them so no partition is bigger than my uncompressed tape
size (4GB for a DDS2-120m).  

If you've got paritions much larger than your tape capacity, you may
be in trouble if Amanda can't span tapes.  :-(
