 Actually, the bug appears to be in putting symbolic addresses in
 `ifconfig' commands.  It is incorrect to do this.  The installation
 process should never create `/etc/hosts'.

 Of course it doesn't appear in /var/log/messages, it's written by the
 `ifconfig' program to standard error output long before `syslogd' is
 ever started.
