I tried the acpi-vid patch earlier and have now updated my kernel to grab the committed version, but I still don't see any brightness sysctls :( I don't understand how I can have a .active entry for a display but no .brightness (after looking at the code). sysctl hw.acpi.video returns -> hw.acpi.video.tv0.active: 0 hw.acpi.video.crt0.active: 0 hw.acpi.video.out0.active: 0 hw.acpi.video.lcd0.active: 0 hw.acpi.video.out1.active: 0 This is on a Dell Inspiron 8600 with an nVidia GeForce FX Go5200 with the nvidia binary driver. Does anyone have any other experiences WRT brightness controls?
